A MUM has been slammed after she revealed the very unique spelling she had used for her daughter’s name.
The woman named Jessica wrote into an Australian lifestyle magazine where she revealed that she’d always loved the name Kaitlyn but wasn’t a fan of how popular it had become.
So she came up with a rather unusual solution to ensure that no one would ever share her daughter’s name.
In her letter to the magazine, which has since been printed, Jessica wrote: “I’ve always loved the name Kaitlyn but hated how popular it was.
“So when I found out I was having a girl, my husband suggested we replace the ‘ait’ with the Roman numeral symbols for eight!
“Now our daughter is truly unique.”

The new spelling of the name is KVIIIlyn.
The magazine clipping has since been shared on Reddit where it has left fellow parents baffled.
Commenting on the post, one wrote: “As long as I live, there will never be a worse name than this one.”
“I hVIII it,” joked another, while a third wrote, “I have no words.”
Others pointed out that people might struggle to pronounce the name.

“This poor child is going to have to explain this s*** to every single person she meets for the rest of her life,” one said.
Another agreed adding, “If they wanted her to be “truly unique,” they should have named her Truly Unique. At least that doesn’t require mental maths to pronounce.”
