Moon Knight Video Explains Steve, Khonshu & Marc’s Relationship
A new Moon Knight video breaks down the relationship between Steven Grant, Khonshu, and Marc Spector. Starring Oscar Isaac as the titular character, Moon Knight tells the story of a mild-mannered gift shop employee who comes to realize that he has the powers of an Egyptian moon god, named Khonshu, through his alternate personality, Marc Specter. The series premiered on Disney+ on March 30th and joins the handful of other Marvel Cinematic Universe shows on the streaming service, including WandaVision, Loki, Hawkeye, and The Falcon and the Winter Soldier.
Moon Knight introduces MCU fans to a slightly darker and more violent world, with Steven frequently waking up to bloodshed committed at the hands of Marc. The show also features a number of time jumps and disorienting scenes as the audience is thrust into Steven's shoes as he attempts to unravel his various identities. In addition to Isaac, Moon Knight stars Ethan Hawke as villain Arthur Harrow, May Calamawy as Layla El-Faouly, and F. Murray Abraham as Khonshu.
Although Moon Knight can sometimes be confusing with multiple personalities operating within the same physical form, a new video posted to the official Marvel Entertainment YouTube channel explains the relationships between Steven, Khonshu, and Marc. In addition to clearing up any confusion regarding the differences between Steven and Marc, the video also delves into Mr. Knight, the superhero alter-ego Khonshu bestows upon Steven. Featuring storylines that involve multiple personalities operating within the same body, Moon Knight is bound to be occasionally confusing or disorienting. While Isaac is a very gifted actor and is able to fairly clearly differentiate between Steven and Marc with nothing but his facial expressions, the video breaks everything down very clearly and concisely, even down to how Harrow fits into the equation. While the video gets fans up to speed on all the developments in the show so far, it also teases that what audiences have seen at this point "is only just the beginning."
With episodes of Moon Knight dropping once per week, it's easy to forget smaller details from past episodes. While hardcore Marvel fans are likely well-versed in the complexities of Steven's inner personalities and alter-egos, an explainer video like the one posted to Marvel Entertainment's YouTube channel is sure to be a welcome guide to those who are new to the character and the world. Moon Knight has aired three episodes so far and much of the confusion regarding Steven's alternate personalities has been cleared up, meaning the show now has an opportunity to delve even deeper into the rich, mystical world these characters inhabit.
