Revving Up For the Second Round: TAG Heuer Introduces The Carrera X Porsche Limited Edition at Watches & Wonders 2022

It’s been eagerly awaited by Porsche and TAG Heuer enthusiasts: A new TAG Heuer Carrera x Porsche that brings together the strong aesthetics and performance of the two partners. Picking up on the successful collaboration announced at last year’s Watches & Wonders, in 2022, a limited edition of a bold chronograph takes center stage.

The TAG Heuer Carrera x Porsche Limited Edition is based on the emblematic Carrera Sport Chronograph and powered by the in-house Calibre Heuer 02. This movement that is entirely manufactured  at the TAG Heuer factory in Chevenez consists of 168 parts including a column wheel and a vertical clutch for the chronograph. It offers an impressive power reserve of 80 hours.

It goes without saying that the design is inspired by Porsche’s highly praised aesthetic appeal. A bold yellow colorway, which reflects Porsche‘s racing yellow Pantone color, reserved for the sportiest of its vehicles, is incorporated in various elements. It can be seen in the Porsche logo on the bezel, as well as on the lacquer in the crown and in the graphic details present in small touches on the dial and on the second hand. In addition, it emits a yellowish hue in the dark.

Another key color is, of course, black, which elegantly reinforces the brightness of the yellow with a contrasting effect. To enhance the bold sophistication, the TAG Heuer and Porsche designers have combined it with various textures. The case has been given the highest-quality black treatment possible – diamond-like carbon (DLC), the dial’s surface is inspired by the metallic bodywork of cars with a slightly glittery effect. The two black asphalt-effect sub-dials are known from the previous watch created in 2021.

Another legacy from the original version is the redesigned oscillating mass in homage to the famous Porsche steering wheel. Clearly visible through the sapphire caseback, it is marked with “Porsche” and “TAG Heuer”. Finally, the textile inspired leather strap and its double stitching are inspired by the seat upholstery of Porsche cars.

Limited to 1,500 pieces, the special edition will be available as of April 2022. The price is approximately $7,000 when converted to USD.
