‘The genius’ – Pundit slams manager for Kulusevski and Bentancur decisions
Antonio Cassano has slammed Juventus boss Massimiliano Allegri for allowing Dejan Kulusevski and Rodrigo Bentancur to join Tottenham in January.
Spurs snapped up both Bentancur and Kulsevski on January transfer deadline day following Juve’s big-money capture of Dusan Vlahovic.
Both signings were viewed by many as underwhelming at the time, given the pair’s struggle for game time in Turin this season.
However, both players have taken to the Premier League like fish to water, with Bentancur adding composure to the Spurs midfield and Kulusevski adding another dimension to Tottenham’s attack alongside Harry Kane and Son Heung-min.
The Sweden international has been particularly impressive, having made nine goal contributions in just 11 Premier League games so far (Transfermarkt).
Cassano has blasted Allegri for letting the two players go, questioning why the Juve boss was not able to get the best out of them like Antonio Conte is currently doing in North London.
He said on Christian Vieri’s Twitch channel (11/04/22): “The genius (Allegri) sent Kulusevski and Bentancur away, who are fourth in the standings at Tottenham.
“Both (are doing) very well. Dejan is sensational; Assists and goals. Conte then manages to squeeze his players and make them perform at their best. He has always done so. Last year at Inter and today at Spurs.”

As we know in football, it sometimes just does not work out for some players at certain clubs. For example, Lo Celso got ample opportunities at Spurs but for one reason or another, simply was not able to deliver.
However, there is no doubting that the Argentine is a talented player, as he is currently showing at Villareal. Similarly, I would not be surprised if the likes of Bergwijn, Rodon, and Winks get a move this summer and turn into top players at their next club.
Both Kulusevski and Bentancur are evidently much better fits in Conte’s system than in Allegri’s, and the Spurs boss, as well as Paratici, deserve credit for identifying them as players who could improve the side.
