Match report by Alan Caldwell
The Glen Luss Glasgow Rocks took on the London Lions at the Emirates Arena as the Rocks looked to continue their recent run of impressive wins. It was the Rocks who ultimately came away with the win despite a late fightback from the Lions.
Starting off the contest, it was the Lions who came out the gate faster, as they took an early 4-0 lead at the start of the game before Jaycee Hillsman drove to the basket and scored the Rocks first two points of the contest, halting London’s fast start to the game.
After the opening exchanges in the game, both teams seemed to be on a level playing field before the Rocks went on a 12-0 run with two minutes left in the quarter, this gave them a 20-13 lead in the game and gave them all the momentum for the rest of the quarter as the Rocks outscored the Lions, 30-16, going on a 20-3 run and shooting 3/4 from three in the quarter.

Moving into the second quarter now, the Rocks looked determined to keep a hold of their lead in the game as Jordan Johnson picked up right from where the Rocks left off in the first quarter, hitting a corner three to extend the lead out even further and keeping the Rocks on top in the contest.

Going into the interval, unfortunately for the Rocks, Jordan Johnson picked up his third foul of the game, forcing him to sit for the remainder of the quarter which turned out detrimental for the Rocks.
Johnson controlling the tempo of the game up to this point, made the Rocks look like a completely different team without him on the floor, as the Lions took advantage of this, outscoring the Rocks 18-14 in the quarter, cutting the Rocks lead down to just 10 at halftime as the Glen Luss Glasgow Rocks lead the London Lions 44-34 at halftime.
Into the second half now, Jordan Johnson returned to the game for the Rocks and looked like a man on a mission as he went coast to coast finishing with a layup to give the Rocks their opening basket in the third quarter.
The third quarter started off quite slow on the scoreboard for both teams, but the Rocks still lead in the contest as Jordan Harris got the Rocks second basket of the quarter, before going to the free-throw line and adding another two, which put the Rocks up 50-36, however, a London three kept the pressure on the Glen Luss Glasgow Rocks.

It remained quite a cagey, low scoring quarter, which saw both teams neutralise each other as the scoring was tied at 15 apiece in the third quarter with the Rocks still leading 59-49, going into the fourth quarter.

All still to play for in the final quarter of the game still, and it was the Lions who started off the fourth quarter the quicker out of the two teams as they went on an early 7-2 run in the first two minutes of the quarter, far from an ideal start to the quarter for the Rocks who seen their lead get halved in the matter of minutes.

Despite this, the Rocks continued to fight back as Jordan Johnson, who had another fantastic game, got to the free-throw line to help get points on the board for the Rocks at a crucial stage in the game.
A nail-biting last five minutes of the quarter was set up now as the Rocks, leading by as many as 16 at one point in the game now had their lead cut down to just four with momentum seeming to swing towards the Lions.
However, despite London seemingly gaining momentum at crunch time, the Rocks managed to limit their turnovers, run good plays, and control the tempo of the game as they dug deep for the final minutes of the contest, defeating the London Lions 83-75.
MVP of the game for the Rocks was Jordan Johnson, who finished with 29 points and controlled the tempo for the Glen Luss Glasgow Rocks the full game.
The Rocks make it 6 wins in a row, looking to make it 7 next time out against Plymouth City Patriots, down Plymouth on April 13th for a 7pm tip-off.
