$950,000 Zoustar Filly Stars at Inglis Easter
Widden Stud’s champion sire Zoustar had the highest priced filly at the Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale on Tuesday with a stunning girl from Jolie Bay fetching for $950,000 for Segenhoe Stud.
Purchased by Cambridge Stud, the filly is a half-sister to Group placed horses God of Thunder and Emperor being from Group II winner Jolie Bay, a full sister to dual Group I winner and sire Merchant Navy.
“Outstanding type, all quality and glides over the ground with ease,” said Peter O’Brien of Segenhoe Stud.
The filly has obviously made a big impression as Jolie Bay has been a regular visitor to Zoustar and has a weanling filly to follow and is back in foal to him again.
Zoustar also had three yearlings sell for $900,000.
Widden Stud sold a filly from Comprende to Suman Hedge Bloodstock, Torryburn Stud sold the half-sister to Group III winner Straight Arron to Liam Howley Racing / Andrew Williams Bloodstock (FBAA) / Bevan Smith Bloodstock and Newhaven Park sold a colt from Group III winner Vergara to China Horse Club / Newgate Bloodstock / Trilogy Racing.
The colt from Vergara is no stranger to the sale ring having topped the Inglis Great Southern Weanling Sale last year when making $360,000 for Blue Gum Farm when bought by BBT Breeding and Racing Pty Ltd.
This time around he was bought as a sire prospect and Henry Field was full of praise for the colt when interviewed by Jemma Cutting for Inglis.
“We thought he was the best Zoustar colt in the sale and he’s going to develop into a lovely 3YO,”he said.
“We see him as a Golden Rose or Caulfield Guineas style of colt.”
