How to turn off Twitter Space notifications on your phone and computer

When apps like Twitter release a new feature, they like to hype the feature up by sending everyone endless notifications about it. The latest example of this comes from Twitter Spaces, their take on live audio chatrooms.

Everyone has Twitter Space notifications turned on by default, so you'll get pinged whenever someone you follow speaks in one. If you follow a lot of people, this might mean multiple pings each day.

Luckily, you can turn off Space notifications both in the mobile app and on the website. Here's how to do both.

How to turn off Twitter Space notifications on your phone

The majority of the Space notifications you see are probably on your phone, coming from the Twitter mobile app. To turn them off, you'll use the app's "Settings and privacy" menu.

1. Open the Twitter app and tap your profile picture in the top-left corner, then scroll down to select Settings and privacy.

2. Tap Notifications, then Preferences, and then finally Push notifications.

3. Scroll down to the From Twitter section and turn off the Spaces option.

You can use this page to turn off any other notifications that you don't want as well.

How to turn off Space notifications on your computer

If you've enabled Twitter alerts in your computer's internet browser, you might be seeing Space notifications there too. It doesn't take much more work to turn them off.

1. Head to the Twitter website and click More in the left sidebar, then select Settings and privacy from the menu that appears.

2. Just like in the mobile app, click Notifications, then Preferences, and then Push notifications.

3. Scroll to the bottom of the page and uncheck the box labeled Spaces.

This page lets you control all the notifications from Twitter. You can also turn off every notification at once by toggling off Push notifications at the top of the page.
