Walmart is expanding its health centers across North and Central Florida, with the first opening set for Tuesday (April 5) in Jacksonville, adjacent to the Collins Road Supercenter.
A minimum of four additional locations in Florida are planned in the Jacksonville, Orlando and Tampa areas, according to a press release.
“Two years after the launch of Walmart Health, we continue evolving and growing to make health care even more accessible to the communities we serve,” Dr. David Carmouche, senior vice president of Omnichannel Care Offerings at Walmart, said in the release.

“With only one primary care doctor per 1,380 Florida residents, these Walmart Health centers will help address the demand for care in three major cities in the Sunshine State, delivering quality health care at the right time in the right setting, right next to where many Floridians get their groceries,” Carmouche continued. “We are part of these communities, and we are excited to bring more options for in-person and telehealthcare services to our neighbors.”
Walmart Health Centers are located adjacent to Walmart Supercenters, and according to the release, they provide state-of-the-art services including primary care, laboratory tests, X-rays, behavioral health, counseling, dental, optical, hearing and more.
The centers also have Walmart Care Hosts and Community Health Workers on the premises to assist patients with navigating their first visit and understanding the available resources.

Per the release, Florida has over 380 Walmart locations and 120,000 associates, thanks to the surge in the state’s population growth. Florida’s population went up 13% between 2010 and 2019 — more than double the population growth in the country.
Walmart Health is operated by qualified medical professionals, including physicians, nurse practitioners, dentists, behavioral health providers and optometrists. The centers are open on weekdays and Saturdays, with telehealth services also available on Sundays.
