A new trailer for The Flight Attendant's upcoming second season showcases a sprawling mystery and the turbulent arrival of Sharon Stone to the series. After a highly acclaimed premiere season, including Emmy nominations for stars Kaley Cuoco and Rosie Perez, the HBO Max show returns on April 21 with its first two episodes. Cassie Bowden (Cuoco in her follow-up project to the incredibly successful Big Bang Theory) finds herself sober, dating, and working diligently as an asset to the CIA. But things don't stay steady for long, and trouble flies into her path sooner rather than later.
Last month, HBO Max released The Flight Attendant season 2 teaser trailer that hinted at some of the shows future plot threads, but the latest full-length trailer has crystalized the shape Cassie's story is about to take. Familiar faces pop up, including Zosia Mamet (Girls) as Cassie's all-too-supportive best friend Ani and Perez returning as her coworker Megan, who wound up part of a dangerous conspiracy. But more significant for the heroine's development - and possibly sobriety - is the appearance of her estranged mother Lisa, played by screen legend Sharon Stone.
Over the course of the The Flight Attendant's first season, Cassie's relationship with her brother Davey (played by Grey's Anatomy star T.R. Knight) was delved into. The biggest point of contention, aside from how her unhealthy lifestyle made a real relationship with her nieces untenable, was how differently Cassie and Davey remembered their deceased father. Coming to terms with her father's own negligent treatment and addiction was a huge breakthrough for the protagonist, but her dynamic with her mother was not really touched upon in the process. The new trailer, which you can check below, suggests that's about to change.
The trailer opens on a positive note, with Cassie declaring that she's in a good place and being applauded by friends and coworkers alike for getting both her apartment and career together after last season's downward spiral. But no sooner has the audience breathed a sigh of relief before it seems the situation is about to get out of control once more. Ani reveals her CSI asset status to Ani and Max (Deniz Akdeniz) and, to make matters worse, believes someone is impersonating her and framing her for yet another murder. If external explosions weren't enough, she must literally battle with her internal demons and stave off another round of impulsive behavior.
The Flight Attendant caps things off with a surprise visit to Cassie and Davey's mother. When the door swings open and reveals Sharon Stone in all her glory, it's clear this is a dynamic that will make or break the heroine's new status quo. Whichever direction things go, Cuoco and Stone will have plenty of juicy material to dive into that will leave the audience hungry for more when the series returns on April 21. After premiering two episodes that week, The Flight Attendant will drop one new episode every Thursday on HBO Max.
