Another one of the unsung heroes that made racing possible and pleasurable in the past decades, Marty Kaufman, passed away last week after a period of ill health. Marty was one of the pillars of endurance racing in North America in his role over a quarter of a century as race director in IMSA and ALMS. He was universally respected throughout the paddock for his open mind, sense of fair play and willingness to engage with the competitors of all levels.
On a personal level, it was always a pleasure to encounter Marty at the tracks, where he was generous with his time and his wisdom. He was a good guy who will be missed. RIP, Marty.
