‘He’s like Maradona now’ – David Ginola praises Harry Kane after Tottenham thrash Newcastle to move into top four
TOTTENHAM legend David Ginola compared Harry Kane to Diego Maradona after his stellar showing against Newcastle.
Ginola was in Sky Sports’ studio to watch Kane put on a masterclass in the 5-1 thrashing of Newcastle on Sunday.
Kane is well known for dropping deep to receive the ball and having the nous to play balls in behind to his partner Son Heung-min.
Ginola believes that Kane now has the same playmaking ability as the World cup winner and football icon Maradona.
Speaking on Sky Sports after the game, Ginola said: The new playmaker at Spurs is Harry Kane. I told you – Harry Kane, the playmaker, the number 10, he’s like Maradona now.
“He’s playing in the middle of the park, long balls, short balls, scoring, assisting, wow. This is a new Harry Kane.”

Kane didn’t score but did set up Matt Doherty to make it 3-1 on 54 minutes.
According to Opta, Kane has assisted 40 goals in the Premier League for Tottenham.
Kane and Son together have formed one of the most potent partnerships in the the Premier League and it certainly is a huge compliment for the England captain to be compared to Maradona.
Spurs manager Antonio Conte also heaped praise on Kane, saying: “His performance was amazing.

“I said to him at the end of the game that it was a shame he didn’t score, but he played fantastic and made an assist.
“To have this type of player in your team makes you strong.”
Spurs climbed into the top four ahead of Arsenal with the victory over Newcastle.
