Marvel Delivers A Spider-Man Reunion Into The Spider-Verse Fans Crave

Marvel is giving Spider-Man the Into the Spider-Verse reunion fans have been craving. Regarded as one of the best Spider-Man films ever made, Into the Spider-Verse delighted fans with its unique look at the Spider-Man mythos and in Miles Morales: Spider-Man #36, Miles Morales, the star of Into the Spider-Verse, is reunited with another Spider-Verse hero: Spider-Ham! The issue is on sale now in print and digital.
Released in 2019, Into the Spider-Verse brought not only Miles Morales into the mainstream, but also other Spider-Man variants, such as Spider-Gwen and Spider-Ham. The film was a glorious celebration of all things Spider-Man and gave mainstream audiences their first look at how deep his mythos truly is, and the result made household names out of what had originally been niche characters. The film was a hit with both fans and critics, and a sequel, Across the Spider-Verse, is on the horizon. Since the movie’s release, fans have been anxious for a reunion, and now in Miles Morales: Spider-Man #36, their patience pays off, as Miles finds himself face to face with Spider-Ham. The issue is written by Saladin Ahmed, illustrated by Christopher Allen, inks by Allen, Victor Olazaba and Scott Hanna, colored by David Curiel and lettered by Cory Petit and Ariana Maher.
Miles has learned that his uncle Aaron (the Prowler) might still be alive somewhere in the multiverse. Miles and his clone Shift set off into the multiverse, using the Assessor’s technology to help them. After sharing an adventure with a Wild West Black Panther variant, the two land on Spider-Ham’s Earth. Miles and Spider-Ham share a brief, but happy reunion. Miles explains to Spider-Ham he is looking for his uncle; his teleporter device also now resembles a crayon. Miles uses the crayon to draw a portal, and he and Shift are off to the next Earth. As they depart, Spider-Ham tells the two: “see you at the next big interdimensional Spider-Crisis.”
The Into the Spider-Verse reunion between Miles Morales and Spider-Ham was short but sweet, just enough to whet fans’ appetites until Across the Spider-Verse arrives in theaters this October. This issue picks up a number of plot points from Into the Spider-Verse, particularly Miles’ uncle Aaron as well as Spider-Man variants from across the multiverse. As in that film, Miles must leap face forward into the multiverse to save those he loves, and he is doing the same here. And just like Into the Spider-Verse, he will not be working alone. With Across the Spider-Verse coming soon, it is only a matter of time before Marvel assembles the Spider-Verse to face down the next big multiversal threat.
Recently, the Spider-Man titles have relegated the Spider-Verse to the background, as the Beyond story concludes. Into the Spider-Verse fans clamoring for a return get their wish in Miles Morales: Spider-Man #36.
