‘I need assurances’ – Wayne Rooney reveals he could QUIT Derby at end of the season amid financial chaos at club
WAYNE Rooney says he could quit as Derby boss this summer – if he does not get assurances about the crisis club’s future.
The former England skipper insists he is ‘fully committed’ to the Championship’s bottom side until the end of the season.
But the Manchester United and Everton legend admits that, if the ownership of the club is not sorted out by then, he could move on.
Derby’s administrators have still not named a preferred bidder for the club – with Mike Ashley among the contenders – seven months after being docked 21 points.
And the Rams could get another 15-point penalty next term if the matter is not settled.
But Rooney fears there may not even be a club said: “I’ll finish the season and then I have to consider how the club and I move forward.

“The only way to do that is to get a new owner in place at the club.
“I love the club, the fans and the staff and I want it to continue, but there has to be something in place so I can do my job.
“If I can’t then I wouldn’t be doing myself or the fans justice.
“I don’t know where the club is going – or if it’ll be here next season, so I don’t know what the future is for the club or me.
