Abby Johnson Apologizes to Woman Who She Sold Abortion to While at Planned Parenthood: I’m Sorry
Abby Johnson has been very open about her life’s journey, from aborting two of her own unborn babies to working at Planned Parenthood and then finally quitting and dedicating her life to pro-life advocacy.
Recently, she shared with Faithwire about an angry, heartbreaking letter she received from one of her former abortion patients.
Johnson said the letter was anonymous, and she has received others like it in recent years. In the letter, the woman accused Johnson of lying to her about her unborn baby and pressuring her into an abortion that she did not want.
“You were my counselor when I had my abortion,” the woman wrote. “I did ask you questions. I asked you if my baby would feel pain. You lied to me. I asked if my baby was developed. You lied. How many women did you lie to?”
She said Johnson, who was working for the billion-dollar abortion chain at the time, “couldn’t even be bothered” to provide basic information and was just trying to sell her an abortion.
“I have lived with regret since that day because of your lies …” the letter continued. “I can’t think of anyone worse who lies to women and then collects money off of the murder of their children. Now everyone acts like you are some kind of hero just because you decided not to kill babies anymore. Big —-ing deal!”

Johnson responded to the letter publicly on her Facebook page, showing humility and compassion for the angry woman and expressing remorse that she cannot apologize to her personally.
“Even though her words are harsh, they still ring true,” Johnson wrote. “I’m certain that I did lie to her. I’m sure that even if I did sense a hesitancy in her, I didn’t take the time to explore that. And she’s absolutely right. … I’ve said this before, and I will say it again now: I am no hero.”
Before becoming pro-life, Johnson worked for Planned Parenthood in Texas for eight years and even received an award for her work. In books and interviews, she has admitted that she and others at the abortion chain did lie to patients and pressured them to abort their unborn babies. She said abortion is a big money-maker and a primary goal of Planned Parenthood.
Johnson said quitting her abortion job was not heroic, it was correcting an evil. She said the woman’s anger is justified and she feels compassion for her.
“Here’s the thing, though. Anger won’t bring her healing,” she continued. “Blame won’t bring her healing. Eventually, we all have to take responsibility for our own actions in order to move forward in peace.
“That doesn’t mean I’m not sorry for what I did to you, to your innocent child. I am sorry. It doesn’t mean I won’t spend the rest of my life healing from what I have done,” Johnson said. “It doesn’t mean I don’t suffer consequences (rightly so) because of what I have done.”
She concluded by promising to pray for the woman and every woman who has aborted an unborn baby.
“Don’t mistake my joy for a lack of sorrow. Sorrow keeps me grounded, joy keeps me going,” Johnson wrote. “For everyone who has suffered from an abortion, I am keeping you in my prayers tonight.”
