When is Pokemon Go Fest 2022? Niantic answered that question and offered some surprising tidbits Thursday. The company said the annual “Pokemon Go” event will be celebrated globally on June 4 and June 5 with a bonus finale event on Aug. 27.
That falls in line with the previous Go Fest of the past two years. The two-day format will likely be organized in some manner with rotating biomes and different tasks. Last year’s Go Fest with a catch day and raid day was done well, keep players busy with two different activities. They’ll likely see the same thing this year. The mysterious finale event may be tied to bonus unlocks that Niantic tends to do during and after Go Fest. These are global, community day quests that ask players to catch Pokemon or gather stardust to hit a certain number. Whatever the case, “Pokemon Go” will keep players busy through the Northern Hemisphere summer.
The more notable part of the announcement is that Niantic is hosting in-person Pokemon Go Fest events in Europe, the U.S. and Japan. These are the locations and dates:
This is the first time that Pokemon Go Fest is coming to the West Coast. If it’s like the previous celebrations, the event will likely be ticketed for one day, meaning the event will be active for one of the three days in the park they decide to hold it in. I went to the one in 2019 in Chicago and it was the best “Pokemon Go” experience ever. It’s a cross between Disneyland and an epic Community Day. What brings it to life are the people and staff, which create a circus-like atmosphere with activities such as battling, quizzes with prizes, a trading outpost and more. Niantic brought different habitats to life with life-sized props. I expect the same experience in the Emerald City.
That means players can perhaps experience Go Fest for four days this summer. They can do the two-day global event, the in-person event and the finale in August.
