Sony's extensive professional baseball simulator is set to return with MLB The Show 22, and it appears to have a platinum trophy for the PS4 and PS5 versions that is incredibly easy to earn. The Show 22 is also coming to Xbox consoles - meaning the achievements will likely be equally simple - and the Switch, marking the first time the series is available on Nintendo's console, which lacks any sort of trophy feature. Platinum trophies are usually something of a time investment, being a signifier of mastering a game, but the one for MLB The Show 22 probably won't take players very long to unlock.
Although The Show 22 has different features on PS5, including a Stadium Creator mode excluded from the PS4 version, the two will share a trophy list. Platinum trophies require the player to earn every other bronze, silver, and gold trophy a game has to offer, and that won't be a very difficult task in MLB The Show 22. Some of the gold trophies are only slightly more difficult than their bronze and silver counterparts. For instance, six of the game's 25 trophies have to do with advancing through MLB The Show's Dynamic Difficulty, which independently adjusts batting and pitching mechanics to the player's skill. Bronze, silver, and gold trophies require players to promote pitching and batting through Amateur, Minors, and Rookie Dynamic Difficulties respectively.
In terms of mastering MLB The Show 22's various features, Amateur, Minors, and Rookie will likely be in the bottom half of the spectrum for the Dynamic Difficulty used across game modes. Most players who begin the game will likely advance to Rookie without too much issue, and these aren't really outliers when it comes to the game's trophies, which leaked early and can be seen on PSNProfiles. One silver trophy is earned by striking a batter out by getting them to swing on a pitch outside the zone, and a gold trophy just requires players to get a hit using the PCI Anchor, one of the game's baked in gameplay mechanics.
Bronze trophies are meant to be the easiest to achieve, but some in MLB The Show 22 are simply consequences of playing the game. One bronze trophy is awarded for hitting a home run off of a pitch going 100 mph or faster, a feat probably achieved in MLB The Show 22's early tech test many times. Another can be earned from getting hit by a pitch, which is probably some form of semi-random outcome when playing against the game's AI. Some of the bronze trophies really highlight how easy the platinum will be, but the gold ones aren't much harder.
MLB The Show 22's most difficult trophy, by virtue of making the player concentrate on something other than just playing baseball, is probably one that requires the player to get a hit from both sides of the plate with the same batter in the course of a single game. It will require a passable switch hitter to actually get on base multiple times, but still isn't some outrageous feat. Another potentially difficult gold trophy is given for hitting an inside the park home run, but this seems likely to happen in the early stages of MLB The Show 22's Dynamic Difficulty.
