After years of uncertainty, Charlie Cox's Daredevil has finally joined the MCU, meaning that fans may soon see him team up with certain Marvel heroes.
Years after Daredevil's cancellation, Charlie Cox's Matt Murdock has reappeared in the Marvel Cinematic Universe's Spider-Man: No Way Home, signaling to fans that the Man Without Fear's journey is far from over, and is indeed only beginning.
Daredevil joining the MCU proper opens up incredibly exciting possibilities for his character moving forward, including the prospect of team-ups with certain Marvel heroes. While seeing Cox's character interact with any Avenger would be titillating, there are certain MCU heroes who will inevitably cross his path in the near future.
First appearing in last year's Black Widow, Yelena Belova is undoubtedly one of the best heroes introduced in the MCU's Phase 4. She's also the clear successor to the mantle carried by her adoptive sister, Natasha Romanoff, which should put her firmly in the same arena as a certain masked vigilante operating in Hell's Kitchen.
The comic book counterparts of Matt Murdock and Natasha Romanoff have a long and storied history, which included a romantic relationship followed by a tenuous but loving friendship thereafter. With Natasha unfortunately deceased, perhaps the MCU Daredevil might find himself forming a bond with her successor.
Sam Wilson has recently pivoted into a leading role in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, taking on the esteemed mantle of Captain America during the events of The Falcon and the Winter Soldier. With a new title and position within the Avengers, Sam will undoubtedly be taking on new responsibilities that may lead him to cross paths with Daredevil himself.
There is plenty of indication of Murdock and Wilson's imminent meeting in the MCU. As a character Marvel is setting up to lead the MCU moving forward, Wilson will no doubt be responsible for dealing with new members of the Avengers, meaning that Matt Murdock will certainly have to form some relationship with the former Falcon if he intends on joining the superhero team.
Taskmaster, though a recent addition to the MCU, has been a longtime foe of many street-level heroes, including Daredevil. Given the character's open-ended fate at the end of Black Widow, fans should expect to see her return to meet new MCU heroes - either in battle or in a superhero team-up.
While the comic book Taskmaster is mostly portrayed as a villain, the cinematic equivalent has taken on a more sympathetic nature, meaning that she could find herself allied with other heroes, such as Daredevil himself. She could even make a welcome addition to the heavily-rumored fourth season of Daredevil, which will no doubt be in search of as many MCU tie-ins as possible.
The Merc With A Mouth is finally on his way to the MCU. After a reboot, two films in the FOX universe, and years of waiting, Ryan Reynolds's Deadpool is confirmed to be joining the mega-franchise in the near future. Many fans have speculated that he will make his first appearance in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, which would spark off a new direction for the character in a much larger world.
Though they come from incredibly different backgrounds, Daredevil and Deadpool have a surprisingly interesting and unique relationship in the comics that would be a pleasure for fans to see unfold onscreen. Despite their differences in tactics, the murderous mutant seems to hold rare respect for Daredevil, making him unique among other Marvel heroes whom Deadpool has come across.
As one of the few remaining original Avengers, Jeremy Renner's Hawkeye may not get the quiet retirement he has long desired. With a world constantly in peril and new heroes added to the Avengers lineup regularly, the archer will no doubt have some responsibility in scoping out new recruits to the famous super-team.
Now that Daredevil is officially a part of the MCU proper, the normally solo hero could finally get the chance to join the fabled Avengers, and Hawkeye would be the perfect recruiter to make it happen. His archery gimmick would make a fun foil to Daredevil's bare-handed fighting techniques that would be a treat to see work together (or clash) onscreen.
Echo is one of the most recent additions to the MCU, making her debut in the Disney+ series Hawkeye. The Deaf vigilante may have started on the wrong side of the law at the outset of the series, but gradually worked her way up to an antihero by the finale, indicating that she may continue to appear in future MCU projects, perhaps alongside other street-level vigilantes.
With Echo, a spinoff show following the character, on its way, it has been strongly hinted that she will spend the series hunting down Wilson Fisk, a.k.a. the Kingpin. If these rumors prove true, then a crossover with Charlie Cox's Daredevil seems inevitable, as Fisk has served as his archnemesis since the first season of Daredevil.
Jennifer Walters is set to make her MCU debut later this year, as she becomes the sensational She-Hulk in her own Disney+ series. Though little is known about her first appearance, rumors have circulated around the show's contents for months, some of which suggest that it could mark the next emergence of Matt Murdock.
She-Hulk has been confirmed to be a superhero legal drama of sorts, following the titular character in her career as a lawyer. Fans were quick to connect the dots between this superhero lawyer and Matt Murdock, who shares Walters' profession. After his appearance in No Way Home, it seems more than likely that Murdock will appear next in his home turf: the courtroom.
At long last, Moon Knight is finally arriving in the MCU with his very own Disney+ series, which will see Oscar Isaac take on the iconic role. Though no future has yet been announced for the Crescent Crusader, it seems inevitable that he will have his fair share of superhero team-ups in the very near future.
One prospective ally in Moon Knight's fight against crime could be the Man Without Fear himself. Both are street-level crimefighters with dark histories and disabilities which they overcome in order to complete their goals. Furthermore, the two have a (mostly) amicable history in the comics that fans would love to see played out in live-action.
Spider-Man: No Way Home ended with several major implications for the titular character, not the least of which was the idea that he might one day team up with the Devil of Hell's Kitchen himself, as Charlie Cox returned to the role after a three-year hiatus, confirming his presence in the MCU proper for the very first time.
Spider-Man and Daredevil have been a longtime favorite team-up for Marvel fans, with the two heroes forming a compelling friendship over their years of fighting side-by-side. And, with Spider-Man being the only Avenger that Daredevil knows personally, it seems inevitable that they will meet once more, perhaps this time in their superhero personas.
After years of uncertainty, it seems that the Netflix Defenders are all en route to the MCU. With Charlie Cox and Vincent D'Onofrio returning to their roles as Matt Murdock and Wilson Fisk, respectively, and Krystin Ritter heavily rumored to be returning to her role as Jessica Jones in the near future, it seems as though Mike Colter's Luke Cage, Finn Jones' Iron Fist, and Jon Bernthal's Punisher are next in line to reemerge in the mega-franchise.
Should all these characters indeed return, it would not be surprising if they grouped together to form the Defenders once more. Given the ever-expanding nature of the MCU, splintering teams seems to be the direction the franchise is heading, lending credibility to the idea that the Defenders will see the light of day once more.
