POP Idol judge Dr Fox says the show WILL return with a one off special reunion to celebrate its 20th anniversary.
The Sun can reveal a comeback is “certainly on the cards” with talks currently taking place with ITV.
Dr Fox, real name Neil Fox, told The Sun at The Rankins Family Foundation launch: “A Pop Idol reunion is certainly on the cards – where have 20 years gone!
“Be great to get back on the screens with a one off special.
“Gareth Gates was always one of my favourite – he’s an amazing talent”
Of his fellow Pop Idol judges, Foxy teased wheely bad cyclist Simon Cowell: “I’d like to think I am ageing much better than Cowell.
“At least I haven’t come off my bike!”

The music competition was a huge hit for ITV in the early 2000s and made Young and Gates famous, and spawned some TV gold moments with Michelle McManus, Darius Danesh, Zoe Birkett, and Rik Waller.
Simon was one of four judges on the show alongside Dr Fox, Nicki Chapman and Pete Waterman.
Last week, TV Zone revealed ITV have been in talks for a new series of the popular show.
They wrote: “I can confirm that ITV ARE in talks to revive Pop Idol, 20 years after it finished on TV in 2003.
“A revival is not confirmed yet, but with @tvukzone, we can verify that they are looking at a return.”
Pop Idol, created by Simon Fuller, premiered in 2001.
It comes as Nicki Chapman broke down in tears after she was told her brain tumour had mysteriously disappeared.
The former TV judge, 55, was diagnosed with a non-malignant brain tumour – which had grown to the size of a small golf ball – but could only have part of it removed in 2019 because it was too dangerous to take it all out.
Nicki had first realised she was ill while working on the BBC property programme Escape to the Country when she went to do a voice-over and couldn’t remember the name of the executive producer, who she had known for 15 years.
