World No. 6 Venezuela holds more trials to build roster for WBSC U-12 Baseball World Cup
The Venezuelan Baseball Federation (FEVEBEISBOL) and the Criollitos de Venezuela Academy organized three days of tryout games at the Aguiles Machado field in Barquisimeto, Lara, to further evaluate candidates for the U-12 National Team.
FEVEBEISBOL finished undefeated, winning three of the five games. The other two were called with the score tied.
Salomon Millan of FEVEBEISBOL impressed with his home run power, while Cesar Garcia was effective both as a pitcher and a hitter.
Sebastian Das Nieves and Jesus Chirinos proved the best hitters for the Criollitos.
World No. 6 Venezuela is one of the 10 National Teams qualified for the VI WBSC U-12 Baseball World Cup, scheduled from 29 July to 7 August in Tainan, Taiwan.
- Americas (5): No. 4 Mexico, No. 5 USA, No. 6 Venezuela, No. 7 Dominican Republic and No. 13 Panama.
- Asia (3): No. 1 Japan, defending World Champions No. 2 Chinese Taipei and No. 3 Korea
- Europe (2): No. 14 Czech Republic and No. 17 Italy
The National Teams qualified out of Africa and Oceania will be the respective 11th and 12th participants with the Continental Associations still to confirm their qualification processes.
Criollitos de Venezuela was founded in 1962. Future stars such as Omar Vizquel, Andres Galarraga and Pablo Sandoval started their path to Major League Baseball (MLB) at the academy.
