Manchester United are looking to include Anthony Martial in a swap deal to prise Harry Kane away from Tottenham, according to ESPN.
United are expected to be in the mix for a new striker this summer with veteran Edinson Cavani set to leave as a free agent at the end of term (The Guardian).
ESPN report Spurs and England talisman Kane has now cropped up firmly on Man Utd’s radar, who could also try and send Martial the other way as a makeweight in a potential deal.
The 26-year-old, who joined United for a fee totalling £58 million, fell out of favour at Old Trafford this season which pushed him to seal a loan move to Sevilla in January (The Athletic).
The Frenchman could be incorporated in a transfer this summer – either in a deal for Kane or in a separate transfer – but the same report explains he would prefer to secure a switch to Italy or Spain if he is to leave Manchester permanently.
Spurs were credited with interest in Martial during his time at Monaco (Sky Sports), but were eventually beaten to the punch by United in 2015.
Spurs Web Opinion
Martial has been pretty disappointing over the last couple of seasons and he hasn’t exactly pushed on into becoming one of the top attackers he was supposed to be.
While Spurs may at least listen to an offer – no matter their stance – this just doesn’t seem like a move that would benefit the club given the amount of quality they would lose.
