Man Utd had 'very positive' talks with 52y/o manager, looking at compensation fee - report
Manchester United are gathering information on the compensation fee required for Ajax head coach Erik ten Hag, a report from Sky Sports claims.
The Red Devils are currently in the process of recruiting their next permanent manager. Judging by recent claims, it could be a two-horse race between Ten Hag and Paris Saint-Germain’s Mauricio Pochettino.
Both managers have had talks with football director John Murtough. It is now reported that the club have ‘informally’ sounded out Ajax over the compensation figure required for Ten Hag’s release this summer.
However, this does not mean that the Dutchman is the favourite for the job. A source from the Red Devils insists the club have not made any formal enquiry and a similar process will be carried out for all candidates.

Ten Hag had a ‘very positive‘ interview with United earlier this month, and the club are now going through the necessary formalities required if they decide to appoint the Dutchman at the helm.
United insist that there is still no clear-cut candidate for the vacancy. A decision could be delayed until the end of the campaign if they are waiting to hold formal talks with Ajax for their manager.
Ajax are currently in a tight Eredivisie title race with just two points separating them from second-placed PSV Eindhoven. The reigning champions wouldn’t want any kind of disruption.
Ten Hag has an excellent track record of grooming young players into potential world beaters. The 52-year-old could be an ideal candidate for United if they are planning for the long-term.
Meanwhile, interim boss Ralf Rangnick has had a tough time in the dug-out, but could play a part in recommending quality young stars. The German will act as an advisor for the next two seasons.
He appears to be already working behind the scenes on potential summer targets. Last month, it was claimed that he had recommended Christopher Nkunku, who was previously not on United’s radar.
