The St. Ambrose baseball team welcomed Olivet Nazarene to Modern Woodmen Park for a pair of games Tuesday afternoon.
The Fighting Bees hung tough in game 1. After the Tigers (15-14, 8-2 CCAC) jumped out to an early two-run lead in the opening frame, Nate Villagomez chopped a groundball to third base that squeezed Kyel Alexander across home plate to make it a one-run ballgame.
Conor O'Hara's arm kept the Bees in reach for the rest of the game, but the offense wasn't clicking for St. Ambrose. The Tigers scratched another run across in the top of the seventh and the Bees couldn't muster up a comeback, dropping the opener 3-1.
O'Hara went all seven innings as the starter, only allowing two earned runs on five hits while striking out four.
Game 2 was one to forget for the Fighting Bees, falling to a final score of 18-4.
The late highlight for the Bees came off the bat of Ryan Kalinowski who sent one opposite field over the wall in right field for the lone home run of the day. Kalinowski, Tyreece Morgan, and Cade Meek all tallied an RBI in the second game.
The Fighting Bees will look to get back on track Friday with a single home game against Judson. First pitch is slated for 2 p.m.
