New Supergirl cosplay brings Sasha Calle's DCEU costume from The Flash to life. A solo movie for Ezra Miller's Scarlett Speedster has been in the works since he was cast as Barry Allen in 2014. The project finally got off the ground when Christina Hodson – who also wrote Birds of Prey and Batgirl – was brought on to pen the script. It director Andy Muschietti, who has had previous box office success with Warner Bros., was then brought on board to helm the project.
The Flash takes inspiration from the popular comic book storyline Flashpoint. The movie will see Barry Allen traveling back in time to prevent the death of his mother, which will result in numerous unforeseen consequences to the timeline. As the first proper introduction of the DCEU's multiverse, The Flash will feature multiple versions of the titular speedster, plus Ben Affleck and Michael Keaton's Batmen. Calle will also make her debut as Supergirl and seemingly take over for Henry Cavill's Superman as the Kryptonian face of the DCEU.
Now, some stunning new cosplay imagines what Calle might look like in costume as the Girl of Steel. The photo was posted on Twitter by the popular cosplayer Lis Wonder, who shared their excitement for The Flash movie and credited digital artist @pixelens9 for the photo's composition. Muschietti shared the first official look at Calle's Supergirl costume last year, which only revealed the iconic "S" on the chest. At last year's DC FanDome, fans got a few quick glimpses of Calle in The Flash, though none in costume. Instead, the clearest looks at Calle's Supergirl have come from set photos taken while the movie was filming in London. This cosplay takes inspiration from the set pictures to accurately represent what Calle looks like in costume, even recreating her hairstyle almost exactly. Based on Wonder's profile, the cosplayer is also of Latin-American descent like Calle and looks strikingly similar to the actress.
The cosplay comes at an opportune time when fans are desperate for something to hold them over until a proper look at Calle's official costume is revealed. The Flash was recently pushed back to June 23, 2023. With a release date of over one year from now, it will likely be a while until The Flash reveals the first official look at Supergirl's full costume.
