Unfortunately, Christine's been motivated to leave Kody for the past handful of years the Brown clan has starred in Sister Wives. Sadly, Christine has been sidelined by Kody as he's devoted all of his affection to his fourth and favorite sister wife, Robyn. Although Christine has expressed a strong desire to leave Kody for years, it wasn't until Sister Wives season 16 that the polygamist was finally pushed out of Kody's plural marriage. The Brown family's followers theorize that Christine decided to leave after a myriad of turning points in her relationship like when Kody ended their intimate relationship and wouldn't move back to Utah. Sister Wives fans think she might've stayed but Kody didn't stop Christine from leaving.
If it were up to the Sister Wives fanbase, Christine Brown would have left Kody at the beginning of the reality series' run. Christine proved herself to be a dedicated spouse, however, and stuck by Kody's side no matter how little he showed up for their relationship. In Sister Wives season 16, Christine gave plenty of signs that indicated she was gearing up to make the unprecedented decision to divorce the unpopular patriarch. Kody has proclaimed that maintaining order in his plural marriage is his highest priority, which made some Sister Wives fans wonder why the polygamist didn't do everything he could to prevent Christine from breaking up with him. One Reddit user argued that if he put his mind to it, "Kody could have stopped [Christine] from leaving." Although viewers agree Kody was capable of holding onto his marriage with Christine, fans don't think he was motivated to.
Sadly, Christine isn't Kody's only spiritual partner that has contemplated leaving him. Meri Brown was close to leaving Kody throughout the Browns' run in Sister Wives, but Kody managed to keep her around. Viewers think that by the time Christine was ready to leave in season 16, Kody had run out of interest in maintaining their spiritual union. Sister Wives fans argue Kody was no longer interested in following through with his commitment to Christine because he only wants to be in a relationship with Robyn. A commenter explained, "[Kody] truly didn't want [Christine] to stay. He is just biding his time until only [Robyn] is left." There might not have been anything Kody could have said to prevent Christine's exit, but Sister Wives viewers were surprised the patriarch didn't even try to stop her. Whether he was deterred by his arrogance or his newfound aspiration to be in a single marriage, Sister Wives fans think Kody didn't stop Christine from leaving because he didn't want to. Fortunately, if Meri and Janelle want to leave Kody in future Sister Wives seasons, it's unlikely he'd put up much of a fight.
