Holby City stars say emotional goodbye to the show in behind-the-scenes clip from their final day filming
HOLBY City’s cast and crew have recorded an emotional farewell as the show comes to an end after more than two decades.
The last ever episode of the BBC medical drama aired on Tuesday night and devastated fans were left in floods of tears.
In emotionally-charged scenes, Jac Naylor – played by Rosie Marcel – was seen losing her brain cancer battle after suffering a deadly stroke.
Earlier, she had made the decision to sign an Advanced Decision to Refuse Treatment form (an ADRT), meaning her colleagues were unable to step in and try to save her life.
The stars and crew of Holby City have now shared a behind-the-scenes video that was recorded on their final day of filming.
Posted on the show’s official Twitter account, a message said: “This is #HolbyCity HR, #HolbyCam and the team signing off for the final time.

“We couldn’t have done this without you. Goodbye, and thank you for watching.”
The footage begins with a crew member declaring: “It’s our last day of filming at Holby City. Let’s have a great last day. Thank you very much.”
Flashback footage of the first six episodes – which aired in 1999 – follow, before current cast members began recalling their favourite anecdotes.
Alex Walkinshaw, who plays Adrian ‘Fletch’ Fletcher, says: “I love all the stuff with Fletch and his children.”
Josh Hudson actor, Trieve Blackwood-Cambridge, adds: “I really enjoyed when Ange and Josh first got together. It was really fun.”
Bob Barrett, who plays Sacha Levy in Holby, provides a voiceover for the video.

He reflects: “Emotional scenes are always challenging but these ones have been especially poignant to film, particularly as they involve the death of a long running character in the final episode.
“And it’s been hard saying goodbye to each set one by one.”
Actor David Ames, who plays Dominic Copeland, admits: “It’s been quite emotional. There has been a lot of final moments, a lot of last time doing this, last time doing that.”
Rosie Marcel is then show wiping away tears as the crew give her a round of applause after recording her final scene.
Another clip shows the Holby stalwart describing her time on the show as “the best years of my life”.
The video ends with Bob saying: “The sets have now been emptied, the production areas packed up and any extra dialogue has been recorded.
“Thank you for watching. And now there is only one thing left to say…”

Every cast member is then seen waving goodbye, along with all the backstage crew – from producers, to make-up artists, prosthetic designers and even real life advisory medical professionals.
The poignant video finishes with a drone shot of everyone bidding farewell as they stand outside the fictional Holby City General in the dark.
