After a two-year hiatus, Netflix's "Love Is Blind" returned in February for another round of blind dating taken to the literal extreme. The show's unique premise - singles "meeting" while isolated in pods and not being able to see each other's faces - brought in all the buzz when it premiered in early 2020, and season two came with a lot more drama for the final couples.
After the way things went down in season two, we're already antsy for a third season. But Netflix must've sensed this, because on March 24 the streamer renewed the dating series for seasons four and five! The upcoming seasons will feature new casts of singles and new cities.
Prior to the series's recent renewal news, Brandon Riegg, Netflix's vice president of nonfiction series and comedy specials, issued a statement about the show's massive success. "It's been incredible to see Netflix members everywhere respond to the raw, authentic stories of real people and real stakes," he said after the series was renewed for season two. "We pride ourselves on creating a favorite show for any taste, and we're thrilled fans embraced all of these series with such enthusiasm and shared passion. We look forward to sparking more joy for our members."
Season three of "Love Is Blind" has already been filmed and has a premiere date set. The series's creators told Variety earlier this month that "Love Is Blind" wrapped up production in Dallas and would likely air the new season within the next year. But Netflix later confirmed that season three will actually premiere this year.
Even though "Love Is Blind" already has its next three seasons queued up, the Netflix series is likely to keep going as long as there's continued interest. "I want to see a season 2 or a season 12," series creator Chris Coelen told Oprah Daily in March 2020. "Don't you?" Coelen said he'd be "100 percent" on board for "season 15 and season 20," as a matter of fact.
Coelen faced some backlash following season two after it was revealed that two more couples got engaged but didn't make the final cut. "I mean, it's a lot of guesswork, to be honest," he told Variety in February. "We don't know what's gonna happen. In Season 1, we were following Kenny Barnes and Kelly Chase, and we were like, it's gonna be so boring. They're gonna say yes, and, of course, they're getting married. And they didn't. We had no idea and continue to have no idea what's going to happen in the stories that we choose. If we are so lucky as we have been in Season 1 and Season 2 to have more engagements then [sic] we're able to follow, then we go with our gut." Fingers crossed we get to see more journeys in the next few seasons!
