Dane Scarlett found the back of the net for England Under-19s as they overcame the Republic of Ireland 3-1.
Scarlett and his Tottenham teammate Alfie Devine both started the game for England, who began their UEFA Under-19 Euro Elite qualifying round on Wednesday.
The Tottenham striker gave his side the lead with a composed finish just five minutes into the encounter.
Ireland drew level in the 38th minute through James Abankwah but the home side’s lead was restored just minutes later courtesy of Carney Chukwuemeka.
The Aston Villa youngster then scored just minutes into the second half to put the game beyond Ireland’s reach.
Scarlett has already made a few first-team appearances off the bench for Tottenham this season, with the 18-year-old even being named on the bench by Antonio Conte in Spurs’ 3-1 win over West Ham on Sunday.
The Spurs boss admitted after the game that the teenager is showing a lot of improvement and insisted that the striker is ‘a really important prospect’ for the club (Football.London).

The goal will certainly do Scarlett’s confidence a world of good and give him added belief when he returns to the Spurs camp. I am just as excited about Alfie Devine, who has been on fire for the Under-23s this season. I would not be surprised if Spurs decided to loan out the midfielder next season in order to fast forward his development.
