Trump consultants are making $10,000 per month advising candidates seeking the former president's endorsement: WaPo

Former Trump White House senior staffers Hope Hicks and Kellyanne Conway
  • The Washington Post reported on consultants working for candidates in need of a Trump endorsement.
  • Some of the consultants are on "contracts that are individually worth $10,000 or more a month."
  • Particularly in key Senate GOP primaries, familiar names from Trumpworld are involved in the scene.

Consulting fees for campaigns pursuing an endorsement from former President Donald Trump can run in the $10,000 per month range, according to a Washington Post report.

Trump's approval ahead the 2022 midterms is critical for most Republican candidates, creating a hot market for consultants with close ties to the former president.

The Post found Trump advisors securing contracts "individually worth $10,000 or more a month," and "at least five" Trump confidantes working on behalf of multiple candidates.

"Pleas from old friends and current advisers have become so unrelenting in recent months that the former president's staff created a list to help him understand the conflicts of interest among those on the payroll of particular candidates, according to those familiar with the effort," Post reporters Michael Scherer and Josh Dawsey wrote.

Some of the former Trump staffers working on behalf of GOP Pennsylvania Senate candidate David McCormick, a former hedge fund CEO include Kellyanne Conway and Andy Surabian on the PAC side, along with Stephen Miller, Cliff Sims, and former Trump pollster Jim McLaughlin on the campaign side, according to the Post.

Hope Hicks, Trump's 2016 campaign press secretary and one of his closest White House aides, was working with McCormick even before he began self-funding his campaign.

Things got so busy at Mar-a-Lago with endorsement-related meetings that Trump recently double booked Hicks with David Bossie, his former deputy campaign manager.

Hicks was there for McCormick, and Bossie for Jane Timken, an Ohio Senate GOP candidate.
