New court documents reveal that Luis' company filed for $1 million bankruptcy after being slapped with a lawsuit by a vendor. The legal woes come as Luis introduces himself in RHONJ season 12. Considering Teresa's criminal history, the last thing she likely wants is a spouse bringing her down with poor money management.
Teresa has been on cloud nine since Luis came into her life. The couple dated for a few months before going public in November 2020. Luis is the first man Teresa has dated since divorcing Joe Giudice, and the couple ended up engaged after one year. Teresa and Luis had already made the big step of moving into a mansion together shortly before Luis popped the big question after a lavish fireworks display in Greece. But as Teresa teases her wedding plans, reports are surfacing into Luis' legal issues.
New findings reveal the $113,000 lawsuit Luis' company was slapped with in September 2021 for allegedly failing to pay $113,404.40, the U.S. Sun reports, and now the company Luis was involved with has filed for bankruptcy. C.H. Robinson Worldwide, Inc. filed the suit against Produce Depot, Luis and a business partner over claims of not being paid for the “fresh fruit and vegetables” the vendor sold to Luis’ company on October 20, 2020, and November 13, 2020, in the amount of “$113,404.40.” The suit accuses Produce Depot of failing "to pay for the commodities it ordered, received and accepted from Plaintiff, despite due demand.” Now the vendor is after Luis and his team for the owed funds. The vendor also wants their legal fees reimbursed. Luis is said to have been one of the owners of Product Depot at the time the services were rendered.
Luis and his business partner responded to the lawsuit in December 2021, claiming they were not in "control or management" of the company being sued. They requested for the lawsuit to be dismissed. However, on March 2, 2022, the company Luis was involved with filed for bankruptcy and asked to postpone the $113,000 lawsuit. While the court postponed the lawsuit for Produce Depot and Luis' business partner, Teresa's fiancé and another defendant added later on are still named in the ongoing suit. Luis is listed in Produce Depot bankruptcy filing totaling $1,660,488.10.
This is the latest revelation into Luis as Teresa goes to bat for him on The Real Housewives of New Jersey. Teresa became offended when Margaret Josephs asked questions about Luis' past. But between Luis's legal trouble, his questionable retreat videos, and old cheating and abuse allegations, it'll be hard for reality star Teresa to keep dodging the elephant in the room. Luis will likely join Teresa at the RHONJ season 12 reunion, where Andy Cohen will ask all of the questions fans want to know. Viewers will be curious as to why Luis is named in a lawsuit and bankruptcy filing, especially considering Teresa's past criminal history with her ex-husband.
