IT’S a name that has become synonymous with affordable, quality homeware products.
But do you know what Dunelm was called before it had a massive rebrand back in 2013?
A fierce debate began on social media after journalist and presenter Mared Parry tweeted: “Was Dunelm once called Dunelm Mill or did I completely make this s**t up?”
Others were entirely unaware that Dunelm had previously had a different name, with one person replying to Mared’s tweet writing: “Since when?”
“Wait, what?” another asked.
Someone else insisted the store had never been called Dunelm Mill, writing: “I’m gonna shock you here, but it’s not called Dunelm Mill.

“It’s just Dunelm. No Mill at all. I’m not lying either, look it up.”
“Just found an old Dunelm Mill bag earlier ….. Its now en route to America as its used as inner wrapping for a gift,” another customer replied to Mared’s tweet.
Having their say on the debate, the official Dunelm account tweeted: “Dunelm nee Mill.”
Dunelm was called Dunelm Mill when it opened back in 1984, but had a huge rebrand 15 years ago.
And it’s not the only big store to have had a name change after a rebrand.
The much-loved Home Bargains was actually called Home and Bargain up until 1995.
As an April Fools’ joke last year, Home Bargains told fans that they were reverting to their original name, sharing a snap of a mocked up storefront and adding: “Yes, Home and Bargain is coming back!

They later revealed it had just been a prank for the joke-filled day.
