SHARING a bedroom with a sibling can lead to petty fights about physical and personal space.
Everyone likes to be alone sometimes, and when you’re not given that option, you often become overwhelmed.
One family of twelve has managed to make their living situation work in a two-bedroom apartment—and the internet is shocked that they all fit.
A woman named Amber de la Motte, who goes by @thehappycaravan on TikTok, shares 10 “musical kids” with her husband.
The family moved to San Francisco so that her oldest could attend the esteemed San Francisco Conservatory of Music.
They have since packed in a two-bedroom, 1400-square-foot apartment nearby that costs them a whopping $4500, she revealed in a second video.

Inside the apartment, the family gave viewers a tour of their space.
One necessity, she said, was: “Beds that come out of the wall and fold back in.”
A pair of adorable bunk beds were easily pulled down from the wall to create sturdy sleeping quarters, and were then neatly folded back into the wall to free up space in the room.
Another requirement was: “Chairs that are good for sitting and for sleeping.”

Two of the children showed off their comfy grey chairs that then opened up into twin beds.
Lastly, they showed us the bed for their baby:
“A mini crib on wheels that folds up too.”
The modern wooden crib collapsed into an easily transferrable contraption.

“Why would you make the choice to have a family of 12 but not be able to provide them sufficient room/space?” one person asked.
“I feel like this is fine when they’re young but super unfair to preteens and up. Everyone should have their own private space,” added another.
