Jorge Masvidal charged with felony battery of Colby Covington after ‘punching UFC rival in face and breaking his TOOTH’
JORGE MASVIDAL has been charged with aggravated battery and criminal mischief after his alleged assault on UFC rival Colby Covington.
The pair reportedly clashed in a Miami steakhouse on Monday – less than three weeks after their grudge match inside the octagon.
And after being taken into custody on Wednesday night, Masvidal, 37, was charged with the felonies by Miami Beach Police.
A video posted to Twitter showed Masvidal walking out of jail in the early hours of Thursday morning with an associate helping cover his face from reporters.
In another video posted to Twitter earlier on Wednesday by a local Miami journalist, Masvidal was seen jogging into the police station after arriving in handcuffs.
ESPN report the 37-year-old had his bail set at $15,000 (£11,400).

Police say Masvidal surrendered himself after his lawyer was called by law enforcement.
Masvidal is described in the incident report as running up to and twice punching a man in the face as they left the exclusive Papi Steak restaurant in Miami Beach.
A blow the mouth caused part of the man’s tooth to break, while the other punch made connection with his eye.
Masvidal was wearing a “surgical mask, hoodie and sweatpants,” but was identified by the victim from his voice, upper part to his face, and “long-standing relationship with the defendant.”

£11,000 worth of damage is also claimed to have been done to the victim’s £68,000 Rolex watch.
Three to four other males also approached the victim in “an aggressive manner,” as per the police report.
While fellow UFC star Covington is not named in the report, Masvidal said in an Instagram video: “Call this the show your face challenge, you “You shouldn’t have been talking about my kids.”know?
“What’s up, I’m from Dade County. You talk that s**t, you gotta back it up. That’s how my city rolls man.”
Masvidal is also understood to have required stitches to his right hand after the incident.
He also said: “You shouldn’t have been talking about my kids,” again during the attack.
The pair fought at UFC 272 on March 5 after a bitter four-year feud , with Covington winning the bout via unanimous decision.
Shortly after losing match, Masvidal warned Covington he’d do everything in his power “to break his f***ing jaw” after the latter reportedly talked about Masvidal’s children.
