There’s a secret rule ITV make you follow when you make it onto their game shows – it’s SO annoying
A FORMER ITV quiz show contestant has revealed the annoying secret rule the channel gets players to agree to.
With Tipping Point, The Chase and Who Wants to be a Millionaire among the roster of quiz shows that air on the network, it’s no wonder so many people want to appear on them.
But a lady called Di, who appeared on Tipping Point in 2017, has revealed there are strict rules about the timings of when you can apply to be a contestant.
Writing on her blog, she explained how she applied for Tipping Point – which is hosted by Ben Shephard – in March 2016.
She was shortlisted and then chosen to be a contestant for a recording in May of that year.
However, her episode didn’t end up airing until October 2017, which caused Di a few problems.

She explained: “After such efficient preparation, the show took a whopping 17 months to actually be broadcast on ITV – although we were told it should be between 6 and 12 months!
“Such a long delay is really frustrating, because you’re not allowed to appear on another quiz show until at least six months after your Tipping Point has aired – meaning almost 2 years without being able to apply for any shows.”
Di also opened up about what it’s like in the Green Room and what goes into being a contestant.
She continued: “On the day of recording, they were filming several shows and we had to arrive at the studio by 2.45pm – our train tickets had been paid for in advance by the production team.

“One of the biggest pains of going on a game show is that you have to take LOADS of outfits, especially with multiple contestants on the same set.
“We had to take 5 tops and 2 bottoms – no white, no pastels, no black, no small patterns, etc.
“We were told to come to the studio with normal make up on, and they add a bit more so it looks good under the studio lights (yes, even for the men!).
“Feeling nervous? They even have little absorbent underarm pads to prevent sweat patches!”
Tipping Point airs weekdays at 4pm on ITV.
