Plague Tale: Requiem Release Date Reportedly Leaked By Xbox
The official listing for A Plague Tale: Requiem on the Xbox storefront seems to out the sequel's unannounced June 2022 due date. Developer Asobo Studio and publisher Focus Entertainment revealed the Plague Tale sequel during E3 2021, teasing the next chapter in Amicia's and Hugo's journey. The two companies followed this reveal up several months later with the first look at gameplay at the 2021 Game Awards.
Though neither trailer revealed much in the way of concrete details, both ended with the confirmation of a nebulous 2022 release window. A Plague Tale: Requiem's second teaser video offered a few hints about Amicia's fate, however. For example, lines of dialogue the protagonist shares with her friend Lucas suggest she, too, may succumb to the Macula curse - the very sickness that ails her younger brother, Hugo. Fortunately, it seems fans of A Plague Tale: Innocence won't have to wait much longer to see what becomes of the de Rune siblings.
Eagle-eyed Twitter user Okami Games recently spotted a release date attached to A Plague Tale: Requiem's listing on the Xbox store page. There seems to be an error, though, because the listing in question suggests the Asobo-developed sequel will launch on June 17, 2021. Of course, it's possible the as yet unconfirmed June 17 date is accurate, especially since this particular day falls on a Friday. It's also probable the 2021 part of the write-up counts as little more than a simple mistake that will eventually receive correction. Given Xbox's history of prematurely sharing accurate release dates, A Plague Tale: Requiem may very well long this summer in mid-June. Those looking forward to the 14th Century-set adventure should still take the above information with a grain of salt, though. Neither Asobo Studio nor Focus Entertainment has officially confirmed the sequel's launch date.
A Plague Tale: Innocence surprised many upon its May 2019 release on PC and consoles. Gameplay-related hiccups aside, the compelling narrative and inventive stealth-based mechanics ensured the title went down as one of the most memorable experiences of the last console generation. And, thankfully, the little that's been shown of A Plague Tale: Requiem points to Asobo taking gameplay critiques to heart and adding several combat improvements. As such, player character Amicia de Rune should prove even more formidable when battling rat swarms and soldiers this time around.
A Plague Tale: Requiem is expected to hit Nintendo Switch (Cloud), PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S in 2022.
