Cops launch probe after woman, 33, found dead in house, as man arrested for murder

A MAN has been arrested on suspicion of murder after a 33-year-old woman was found dead at a home in Sheffield.

Paramedics called cops to the property in Owlthorpe, South Yorks., shortly after 6.30am today.

A 33-year-old woman was pronounced dead at the scene and a 31-year-old man was arrested.

South Yorkshire Police said in a statement: “Officers were called by Yorkshire Ambulance Service shortly after 6.30am today following reports of concern for a woman at a property in Edenthorpe Dell in Owlthorpe.

“Police attended the scene, alongside the fire service, and sadly a 33-year-old woman was pronounced deceased at the scene.

“An investigation into the circumstances surrounding her death has now been launched.

“A 31-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder and remains in police custody at this time.”

A cordon remains in place on Edenthorpe Dell while officers carry out their investigation.

Members of the public are being asked to avoid the area.

Cops said the woman’s family has been informed of her death and is being supported by officers.
