MAGALIA — A woman is in critical condition after being struck by her own car during a fight.
Kayla McCally, 29, of Westwood was allegedly involved in an altercation with another woman around 10:14 p.m. Monday on Oak Park Drive in Magalia, according to a press release from the Butte County Sheriff’s Office. Deputies allege that McCally got into the woman’s car, accelerated, hit the other woman and hit a tree during the altercation.
According to the press release, McCally ran away after crashing the car.
The injured woman was taken to a hospital where she had an emergency surgery and was stabilized, according to the press release. She is reportedly in critical condition.
McCally was contacted around 1:45 a.m. Tuesday by deputies, detectives and California Highway Patrol officers at a residence on Bille Road in Paradise.
“Detectives located additional evidence which gave them cause to believe McCally was the individual who hit the victim,” the press release said.
McCally was arrested on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon, inflicting great bodily injury on someone during the commission of a felony, a felony hit and run and a driving under the influence of alcohol felony. She was taken to Butte County Jail.
