A new UNO crossover deck will allow fans to collect Marvel heroes for use in the infamously competitive card game. The shedding-type card game tasks players with getting rid of every card in their hand, though rival players can make this a daunting task. UNO's popularity has led to crossovers and collaborations, like a Far Cry 6 version of UNO themed after the fictional nation of Yara.
While UNO has been played since the 1970s, many different versions of the game have been brought to digital formats over the years. In 2017 Ubisoft launched its own interactive edition of the colorful card game, allowing gamers to digitally destroy their friends with Draw Four cards. Ubisoft's rendition of the title features two unique game modes, a basic Standard Play mode and a cooperative 2v2 Mode where players team up to lose their cards the fastest. Ubisoft's UNO has also received themed expansion decks based on properties like Raving Rabbids, Rayman and Far Cry, with an Immortals Fenyx Rising crossover with UNO launching in January 2021.
As announced by manufacturer Mattel, a brand-new UNO Ultimate crossover set will be emblazoned with Marvel heroes like Iron Man, Black Panther and Captain Marvel. The unique UNO Ultimate brand features different themed cards, allowing fans to collect their favorite fictional characters on premium foil cards. The four new Marvel decks, which will arrive in spring 2022, will also bring new mechanics to the game through the introduction of special powers and Enemy/Event cards. Additional add-on packs will see even more superheroes arrive to UNO Ultimate, like Spider-Man, Doctor Strange and Scarlet Witch.
UNO is a classic card game known for its ability to both thrill and infuriate players, and its timeless quality has allowed it to remain popular for decades. Back in 2019 Fortnite pros even played UNO instead of the beloved battle royale shooter, due to a controversial change implemented at the time. Developer Epic Games refused to give professional players dedicated servers to practice ahead of 2019's World Cup, so many of the electronic athletes began streaming Ubisoft's version of UNO instead. While this served as a form of protest, it also demonstrated how UNO can be as exciting as even the most beloved video game.
The crossover between UNO Ultimate and Marvel perfectly combines two entertainment juggernauts. The unique version of Mattel's card-shedding experience lets players hunt down specific cards for their collection, and now fans will be able to assemble Earth's Mightiest Heroes as gorgeous foil cards. The sets will arrive in the spring, so fans will only need to wait a short time before Marvel makes its way to UNO.
