What We Love About The Wyze Gun Safe
It uses a biometric fingerprint scanner to prevent unwanted access but unlocks in 0.8 seconds. For perspective, the average human blink is about 0.4 seconds. Press your fingerprint to the scanner, and you’ll have the safe open in under a second. You can store up to 20 different fingerprints to grant access to other household members or just to give yourself more options to open the lock.
If a fingerprint scanner doesn’t work for you, you still have the option for traditional keypad entry. You can also lock or unlock the safe from the Wyze app on your phone through the use of Bluetooth. Finally, you can use a physical key to open the safe should the battery die.
The Wyze Gun Safe has 195 cubic inches of storage space inside — plenty of capacity to store up to two handguns, as well as magazines and other accessories. Of course, you don’t have to use the safe for firearms; it’s an excellent place to store important documents like passports, birth certificates, social security cards and other items.
The safe is 12-gauge steel and meets California Depart of Justice specifications against impact and tool attacks. The internal metal plating means the latch and motor can’t be manipulated or forced open. There is an included mounting kit for securing the safe to the floor or the wall.
When you open the safe, an internal LED lights up the contents so you can easily see what you’re looking for. A USB-C port on the safe can provide it with emergency power if the AA batteries run out.
One thing to note is that the Wyze Gun Safe is neither fireproof nor waterproof, so it won’t survive a house fire or flooding, although it might slow down the damage to anything inside the safe.
