Congratulations to Boban Jacdonmi who features in the BBL All-Star 5, week 24. This was due to Bo’s outstanding performance against the Plymouth City Patriots on Sunday night. Great effort Bo!
This week’s BBL All-Star 5 combined for an eye-watering 43-52 (83%) shooting from the field in a big week of BBL Championship action, and it’s led by an amazing fourth straight appearance for Antonio Williams alongside a pair of Manchester Giants who turned in big performances live on Sky Sports.
Antonio Williams – Plymouth City Patriots
In midweek Plymouth City Patriots made it seven wins in nine and avenged previous defeats against Cheshire Phoenix, with a huge double-double from Antonio Williams as he makes his fourth All-Star 5 appearance in a row and fifth overall, third among all players. He missed just once from the field, shooting 8-9 (88%) on his way to 19 points, while handing out 15 assists and adding three steals. Trailing midway through the third, Patriots scored a massive 42 points in the final 13 minutes, with Williams driving them with nine of his points and six assists in that spell.
Tyrik Armstrong – Manchester Giants
Manchester made it three wins in a row over the weekend, with Tyrik Armstrong again putting in a big performance live on Sky Sports as he moves clear in second place in All-Star 5 appearances with this being his sixth, but first for 11 weeks. Giants poured in 110 points to put space between themselves and Eagles in the BBL Championship table, as Armstrong shot 9-10 (90%) from the field for a double-double of 23 points and 11 assists, including 13 points during a third quarter that Giants won 32-19 to take over the game, and eight in a 10-2 run that took it from a one shot game to a double-figure lead.
Geno Artison – Manchester Giants
Also big in that game, leading to his first appearance of the season in the weekly team, was 6’9″ Seattle native Geno Artison. He had a season-high of 24 points on an exceptional 6-7 (85%) from three-point range and 9-11 (81%) from the field, along with eight rebounds and two assists. That included five points and four rebounds in under two minutes to start the third as Giants came from behind to take a lead from which they never trailed again, and then a trio of three-pointers in the fourth to help bury the game.
Kylor Kelley – London Lions
London Lions made it seven straight road wins since New Year’s Day by beating Cheshire Phoenix in a preview of the BBL Trophy Final, with the league’s leading shot blocker Kylor Kelley making his second All-Star 5 appearance of the campaign. The seven-footer finished with a team-high 20 points on 9-11 (81%) shooting, along with seven rebounds, four assists and two blocks, including a dagger three-pointer with two and a half minutes remaining – just his third make from long-range of the season – and that put Lions up for good down the stretch.
Boban Jacdonmi – Glen Luss Glasgow Rocks
Glasgow got a first win in four games with victory over Plymouth on Sunday as they chase down the Play-offs, with British big man Boban Jacdonmi making a second All-Star 5 appearance in three weeks. He scored 20 points on 8-11 (72%) shooting, with eight rebounds, two assists and two steals, including nine points in the first quarter as Rocks led from tip-to-buzzer. Five of his rebounds came at the offensive end and Glasgow scored from all of those second chance opportunities, 10 of their total of 16 second chance points in the game.
