Dog bins named ‘poo tin’ in disgust at Putin’s invasion of Ukraine
Not impressed with the behaviour of Vladimir Putin in recent weeks? Nor are people in Bugs Bottom.
So much so, in fact, that they decided to rename their local dog bins ‘poo tin’ and feature Putin’s face with red eyes and devil horns.
Several bins in the grassland and woodland area in Reading, Berkshire have appeared with the label on.
It seems they were rather disgusted by Russia’s invasion of Ukraine almost three weeks ago, which has caused widespread death and devastation among soldiers, civilians and cities in the country.
But whoever is behind this genius pun is not the first person to link Putin and animal faeces.
An artist decided to sell a portrait of the Russian leader himself to raise money for Ukraine.
‘I didn’t want to do anything wishy-washy like doves, I wanted to do something to insult Putin and still raise money for Ukraine,’ Dominic Murphy told the Welwyn Hatfield Times.
‘So, I did a portrait of Putin using dog s**t.
‘I mixed it with mud then varnished the whole thing about 30 times so you can’t smell it.
‘It’s niche and it’s quite the statement, but I really liked the idea of being able to insult him while raising money for the people of Ukraine.
‘I’ve had a pretty good reaction to it because people can see it’s funny but quite poignant.’
He sold the original for £150 and is also selling prints of the painting here.
Other people in the UK have taken more direct action to denounce the actions of Putin and his supporters.
One landlady in Burton-upon-Trent, in Staffordshire, has banned the Russian president from ever stepping foot in her pub.
Sam Rice has warned Putin he is not welcome at the Loaf and Cheese in her efforts to stage a protest.
And in the unlikely event the Kremlin leader should ever visit Britain and fancy a swift half at the pub, he could face being ‘wrecked’ by Sam’s punters.
She said: ‘What he is doing is just wrong. It is all my customers are talking about at the moment.’
