A new Star Wars fan poster sees the Galactic Empire hunt Jedi in Disney+’s Obi-Wan Kenobi. The upcoming six-episode limited series is set 10 years after George Lucas’ prequel trilogy. In addition to Ewan McGregor’s long-awaited return as the iconic Jedi Master, the show will star Hayden Christensen as Anakin Skywalker/Darth Vader, Joel Edgerton as Owen Lars, Bonnie Piesse as Beru, Moses Ingram, Kumail Nanjiani, Indira Varma, Rupert Friend, O’Shea Jackson Jr., Sung Kang, Simone Kessell, Benny Safdie, Maya Erskine, and Rory Ross.
Obi-Wan Kenobi will explore “Ben” Kenobi’s time in exile on Tatooine as he avoids detection and watches over Luke Skywalker from afar. Following the events of Revenge of the Sith (2005) and the great purge/Order 66, the Empire is on the hunt for any remaining Jedi. During last week’s Disney Investor Call, the first teaser trailer for the series shows the Empire on the Skywalker’s native desert planet looking for a Force user (s).

As was the case with Solo: A Star Wars Story’s (2018) setting, which took place nine years after Revenge of the Sith, Obi-Wan Kenobi will see Palpatine, Darth Vader, and the Empire in/around the peak of its power, which is felt throughout the galaxy. The Jedi Order and the Republic have been eliminated and those who have survived are on the run and in hiding. While stormtroopers will factor into the series, the main antagonists will be Darth Vader and his Inquisitors, Force-sensitive beings tasked with eradicating Jedi.
Fans of the animated series, Star Wars: Rebels, and the video game, Fallen Order, are familiar with the Inquisitors. In the former series, the Grand Inquisitor was voiced by Jason Isaacs. In Obi-Wan Kenobi, he will be making his live-action debut, played by actor Rupert Friend. The series will also introduce the Inquisitor Reva (Moses Ingram), who is shown in the trailer on Tatooine harassing civilians like Owen Lars in her search for someone. The trailer implies this person is Obi-Wan. However, it seems more likely the Empire was drawn to Tatooine by another who is strong with the Force. It appears Obi-Wan will lead them away from the planet to protect Luke. Audiences will see how he fares against “peak Empire” when Obi-Wan Kenobi hits Disney+ on May 25.
