Warning: SPOILERS lie ahead for Spider-Man: No Way Home
John Cena's Peacemaker makes his Marvel Cinematic Universe debut in a funny Spider-Man: No Way Home fan edit video for a celebrated scene. Christopher Smith, alter ego Peacemaker, first made his way to the screen with James Gunn's The Suicide Squad last year with Cena portraying the jingoistic killer who believes in achieving peace at any cost. Cena would carry the role over into the DC Extended Universe's first TV series, Peacemaker, which recently concluded season 1 to rave reviews from critics and audiences alike and was renewed for season 2.
Spider-Man: No Way Home marked the third installment in the webslinger's MCU franchise as Tom Holland's Peter Parker found himself facing off against villains from the multiverse after attempting to perform a spell with Doctor Strange to restore his secret identity. The antagonist roster for the film included Willem Dafoe's Green Goblin, Alfred Molina's Doctor Octopus, Thomas Haden Church's Sandman, Rhys Ifans' Lizard and Jamie Foxx's Electro. With Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield also returning as their respective Spider-Men along with Charlie Cox's Daredevil, some fans have their own ideas of who else could have popped up in the multiverse adventure.
In time for the film's digital release, Twitter user Stream the Vote shared a hilarious Spider-Man: No Way Home fan edit video introducing Peacemaker to the MCU. Subsequently shared by James Gunn, the video sees MJ and Ned attempting to open a portal to Peter Parker, only to open a portal to the now-iconic opening title sequence for Cena's HBO Max series. Check out the funny fan edit video below:
The Spider-Man: No Way Home fan edit video hails from the scene in which Zendaya's MJ and Jacob Batalon's Ned attempt to use Strange's ring to search for Peter Parker with a portal, only to result in the arrival of Garfield and Maguire's incarnations of the character. Though the DC and Marvel universes do technically exist apart from one another, the nature of the multiverse could be the perfect explanation for how the two comic book franchises could collide at some point in the future. Multiple key figures on both sides of the line have recently discussed the possibilities of making it happen, with Gunn having gotten the ball rolling with his jump from the MCU's Guardians of the Galaxy movies to DCEU's The Suicide Squad.
Marvel head Kevin Feige even teased that comic book fans should never say never about a potential MCU and DCEU crossover, with Black Adam star Dwayne Johnson also recently expressing his belief he, Deadpool's Ryan Reynolds and Wonder Woman's Gal Gadot could use their pull to make it happen. Though this is likely far off in the distance, audiences can at least have themselves a good laugh with Peacemaker's MCU debut in the Spider-Man: No Way Home fan edit video. They can also revisit the exciting multiverse adventure as it is now available to buy or rent on digital platforms.
