After scoring seemingly at will through its first 12 wins, Embry-Riddle split a pair of pitcher's duals against visiting Simpson on Saturday and then swept the Red Hawks on Sunday to move into sole possession of first place in the California Pacific Conference. ERAU, now receiving votes in NAIA Coaches Poll, dropped the opener but came back to win the next three behind some impressive pitching performances, most notably from Vanessa Brink, who followed up perfect game back on Feb. 28 with another stellar outing against the Red Hawks—an 18-strikeout, three-hit gem over 10 innings. Brink, 7-0 this season with 70 strikeouts in 45 innings and a 1.09 ERA, pitched in the last three games against SU, totaling 15 innings while allowing 12 hits and two walks and fanning 25.
