Screen Rant exclusively debuts the trailer and poster for the upcoming Civil War-era set western action-adventure film Hostile Territory. It was announced earlier this year that Saban Films had purchased the North American distribution rights to the film. The movie, which was previously titled The Orphan Train, had some setbacks due to the COVID pandemic.
Inspired by a true story, Hostile Territory follows former P.O.W. Jack Calgrove (Brian Presley), who moves Heaven and Earth to be reunited with his children following the Civil War. After returning home, Jack discovers that his wife has tragically died and his children, presumed to be orphans, are heading deep into the West on a train crossing enemy lines, with the intent of being placed into new homes. Calgrove and another soldier team up with a troop of Native American sharpshooters and a freed slave as they try to stop the train. The film also stars Matt McCoy (The Hand that Rocks the Cradle, Tom Clancy's Jack Ryan), Brea Bee (Silver Linings Playbook), Brad Leland (Deepwater Horizon), Lew Temple (The Devil’s Rejects), and Craig Tate (King Richard).
Presley, who also wrote, produced, and directed the film, has been in the industry for over twenty years. He was a regular on the soap opera Port Charles and had roles on shows like 7th Heaven and Malibu, CA. On the big screen, Presley had a starring role opposite Kurt Russell in 2011’s Touchback, and was featured in the World War II Navy drama USS Indianapolis: Men of Courage with Nicholas Cage, Thomas Jane, and Tom Sizemore. Check out the trailer for Hostile Territory below:
Presley’s California-based production company, P12 Films, has a rather altruistic business model. For every project it produces, P12 Films partners with non-profits who receive a percentage of all sales. For instance, for the film The Great Alaskan Race, which tells the true story of the famed sled race dogs Balto and Togo, profits were shared with the non-profits Battle Dawgs for Combat Veterans, Champions Club, Beargrease Sled Dog Marathon, Deity Animal Rescue, Hope is Alive, and the Iditarod Sled Dog Race.
Hostile Territory is one of a handful of westerns to be produced as of late. The genre, which is seeing a resurgence, has also recently spawned the Academy Award-nominated The Power of the Dog, The Harder They Fall, Old Henry, Cry Macho, and Those Who Wish Me Dead.
Hostile Territory will be in theaters on April 22, 2022 and available on digital and on-demand on April 26, 2022.
