Andy Cole has insisted that Tottenham’s performance on Saturday was the best he has seen from the North Londoners at Old Trafford ‘for a while’.
Despite battling back to level the game twice on Saturday, Spurs eventually succumbed to another defeat on Saturday, owing to a hat-trick by Cristiano Ronaldo.
However, it was the Lilywhites who dominated proceedings for much of the encounter and looked much more threatening than the home side.
Conte insisted in the post-match press conference that his side deserved more for their performance and praised Ronaldo for steering the Red Devils to a victory (Football.London).
The defeat puts a massive dent on Spurs’ hopes of sneaking into the top four, with the Lilywhites now sitting six points behind Arsenal in fourth place, having played a game more than the Gunners.
However, Cole believes that Conte’s men can take heart from the performance they put in on Saturday.
The former Man Utd striker told PL Productions (12/03/22 at 8:15 pm): “To be fair this is the best I have seen Tottenham play at Old Trafford for a while.
“They moved the ball pretty well and they were probably unlucky.”
Cole is seemingly forgetting the fact that Spurs actually demolished United 6-1 at Old Trafford last season.
Spurs Web Opinion
Our performances and results at Old Trafford have been quite decent over the past few years. However, I do not think we played particularly well on Saturday. Man Utd showed up the fact that we are unable to break down deep-lying defences, which has been a feature under Conte so far.
