Who is South Carolina governor Henry McMaster?
Henry McMaster, 74, is an American politician, attorney and member of the Republican Party.
He has served as the 117th governor of South Carolina since January 24, 2017.
He was born on May 27, 1947, in Columbia, South Carolina.
He received his bachelor’s degree from the University of South Carolina in 1969 and graduated from the University of South Carolina School of Law in 1973.
In 1981 he was appointed the US Attorney for the District of South Carolina by President Ronald Reagan.
He chaired the South Carolina Republican Party from 1993 to 2002.
McMaster was elected attorney general of South Carolina in 2002 and reelected in 2006.
Is Governor McMaster married?
McMaster married Peggy McMaster in 1978.
According to her bio, “the First Lady currently serves on the boards of the American Red Cross, Pawmetto Lifeline, and as the Honorary Chair for the Fisher House (SC) Capital Campaign. She is also involved with the SC Attorney General’s Office and the task force to combat human trafficking in South Carolina.”
The pair have two adult children: Mary Rogers McMaster and Henry Dargan McMaster, Jr.
The family also has a beloved English bulldog named Mac.
