‘One massive positive’ – Michael Owen shares his Man Utd v Spurs score prediction
Former striker Michael Owen has shared his prediction ahead of Tottenham Hotspur’s match against Manchester United.
Owen, who made 52 appearances for United in all competitions, scoring 17 goals (transfermarkt) believes that Ralf Ragnick’s side will come out on top in the fixture which could have big implications in the race for a top four finish.
Ragnick revealed in yesterday’s press conference that Cristiano Ronaldo is available for selection with the 37-year-old having scored four goals and three assists in his last five Premier League appearances against Tottenham (Manchester Evening News).
Harry Kane has three goals and two assists in his last three top-flight appearances at Old Trafford and another Premier League goal would see him equal Wayne Rooney as the competition’s leading away scorer.
Owen told BetVictor: “This is the start of a huge week for United, with the second leg against Atletico Madrid coming on Tuesday. The performance in the second half against City was nowhere near good enough, but there were some positives in the first. Jadon Sancho took his goal brilliantly and looks like he’s beginning to settle in this side.
“Spurs are such a hard side to predict under Conte. I didn’t see that 5-0 win over Everton coming, but some of Spurs’ play was superb, even if Everton did make it easy for them. The one massive positive of late though, is Harry Kane’s form. He’s been brilliant, both in terms of scoring and creating chances. Kane is such a complete striker and it’s great to see him get back to his best.
“Man United desperately need to win this. I can’t see much in this one, but I think United will edge it. 2-1.”

Owen is naturally going to side with his former club but Tottenham need to go into the match with full belief that they can take all three points at Old Trafford.
If the Spurs defence can deal with the threat posed by Ronaldo and Cavani while also being able to win the midfield battle and give Kane, Son and Kulusevski the opportunity to get in behind, we stand a good chance of silencing the home fans.
