Each challenge acts as a lesson to teach players some of the basics of racing and how to approach different tracks. The National A License challenges can be accessed by going to the License Center on the World Map.
There are three tiers of rewards for completing each challenge for the National A License. Depending on how quickly the track is finished, players can earn bronze, silver, or gold. Each tier rewards players with different amounts of credits which can be used for in-game purchases. Completing the National A License is also required for leveling up and unlocking other areas of the game.
The lessons in the National A License group are mostly focused on turning and how to approach corners using different cars in Gran Turismo 7. Players will need to master consecutive corners and complete courses on different tracks like wet or dirt roads. Completing every challenge for the National A License and earning gold can be difficult, but players will earn a lot of credits and unlock a few cars for doing so.
In the first National A License challenge, players will learn the basics of out-in-out, a concept used while cornering. Ideally, players will start on the outside, move to the inside at the corner of the turn, then back to the outside when coming out of the turn. The best way to approach this challenge is to build up speed leading up to the turn, but not so much that the brakes need to be applied too heavily. For this challenge, Gran Turismo 7 players will be using a Subaru BRZ STI Sport '18.
The second challenge builds on the first and has two turns that can be approached using the out-in-out method. The track has two 90-degree corners to get around, so coming in too fast will cause a big slow down or may lead the player off the track. Slowing down a bit before entering the turns will help stabilize the vehicle and make it easier to get around the corner before accelerating to the finish. The second challenge is completed in a VW Scirocco R '10.
Using an Abarth 500 '09, players will need to race around the track completing two different turns using the out-in-out method. The turns are at different angles, so players will need to adjust their speed in Gran Turismo 7 accordingly. The second turn is sharper and should be approached a little slower than the first turn. As long as players watch their speed, this should be an easy challenge to complete.
As the name suggests, the fourth National A License challenge in Gran Turismo 7 will take place on an urban track in a busy city. The track has walls on both sides, and colliding with them is a condition for failing. The key to completing the challenge is to get as close to the walls as possible while maintaining control to quickly reach the end of the track. The fourth challenge is completed in a Honda Civic Type R (EK) '98.
For cornering in the wet, players will be in a Nissan 180SX Type X '96 car in Gran Turismo 7. This challenge teaches players how to drive on wet tracks and the idea of braking earlier to get around tight turns. Taking some time to slow down well before the first turn will help with controlling the vehicle and getting around the other corners without losing too much time or going off the track. The challenge gives players a decent amount of time to get to the finish, so it's best to take it slow around the tight corners.
In an Alfa Romeo 4C '14, players will need to take two consecutive turns without losing speed or control as they make their way to the end of the track. To complete the challenge quickly, it's best to use the out-in-out method or simply hug the right side of the track. Maintaining speed and having good control through the turns will help to complete the A-6 lesson for the National A License.
The A-7 lesson for the National A License in Gran Turismo 7 builds on the previous challenge. The track is a little longer, and the turns for A-7 are a bit tighter than in A-6. Slowing down a bit around the consecutive corners is recommended, but then players can speed up more while going around the last turn on the track. This challenge is completed in a BMW M3 '03.
The Dirt Driving challenge is about learning how to race on different track surfaces. Although this Gran Turismo 7 track is different, the same basic principles can be applied. Maintaining good control and steering early on a dirt track are important, as well as using out-in-out for the turn and braking when necessary. Players should start to steer the truck just before entering a turn to balance out the effects of the terrain. Players will be using a Toyota Tundra TRD Pro for this challenge.
Using a Honda NSX Type R, players need to complete a hairpin which is most easily done by slowing down when entering the turn and accelerating as soon as the car is facing the exit. Slowing down when entering the turn is the most important part because approaching it too fast will require players to do a lot of correcting that can take too much time. This hard challenge doesn't give much room for error between gold and bronze, so nailing the timing and optimal speeds will be key to completing it.
The final challenge is completed in a Toyota Supra RZ. Since this is the last challenge before earning the National A License, it's a test that combines most of the previous challenges into one track. There are consecutive corners to start with and a hairpin right at the end of the track. Using the skills learned in previous challenges, players should be able to complete the course easily.
Every challenge that's completed will award credits whether players earn bronze, silver, or gold. For getting gold on every National A License challenge, players will be awarded two new vehicles. The VW Scirocco R '10 is given to players for earning this license with any combination of bronze, silver, or gold achievements. However, the Subaru BRZ STI Sport '18 is only unlocked if players earn gold on every challenge. After unlocking the National A License, there are three other licenses to complete for rewards and credits in Gran Turismo 7.
