Players can earn various quick boosts to their campaign in Total War: Warhammer 3 by falling for a temptation from the Dark Prince, Slaanesh.
Total War: Warhammer 3 was recently released, providing players with multiple different factions they can take in their efforts against Be'lakor. While the end goal of any campaign is to claim the god-bear of Kislev, players must first survive harsh battlefields to progress that far. Unless the player lucks into an easy starting location in Total War: Warhammer 3, the player will have t0o contend with mortals and daemon hordes while needing to send their most powerful army away. Especially with factions like Kislev's The Great Orthodxy, players will be beset upon all sides by enemies and rivals. Luckily, there is a catch-up mechanic built into the campaign, which players can gain access to by delaying their progress towards the campaign goal. Players in need of assistance wouldn't be looking to push the main objective anyway, and players well-off can afford the minor delay for a massive buff.
In Total War: Warhammer 3, the main objective of the campaign is to acquire four daemon prince souls, one from each of the Chaos God's realms. Armies wishing to challenge these powerful daemon princes will need to gain access to the realm's final battle. Armies in Khorne's realm must spill enough blood to gain the Blood God's attention, while those unfortunate enough to venture into Nurgle's realm must survive the constant malaise that causes attrition to all armies that journey there. Armies that journey to the center of Slaanesh's realm must deal with an even greater threat: temptation.
Slaanesh's Chaos Realm in Total War: Warhammer 3 tasks the player with reaching the realm's center, facing many temptations along their journey. A player that falls for any of these temptations will gain the temporary benefit but must pay a price. The player becomes locked out of the Chaos Realms until Ursun's next roar, and gains a permanent debuff on their legendary lord, causing them to radiate Slaanesh Corruption. While this may seem a steep price, both can be easily overcome. Players have multiple methods of reducing local corruption in their army, turning the debuff into a minor skill point tax. Meanwhile, the boon the player chooses can be used to accelerate their campaign, which they can then use this momentum to annihilate any rival faction that pulled ahead in the campaign's main objective.
Slaanesh offers many amazing boons for the player to accept as they traverse the Dark Prince's Realm. From items that players can equip to raise their Warhammer units stats, to factionwide control or growth buffs, Slaanesh offers a large variety of different boons to the player. Each ring in Slaanesh's realm corresponds to a different vice, and players can either accept or reject each vice as they step into the next circle of the realm. In order, the player will traverse through Avidity, Gluttony, Carnality, Paramountcy, Vainglory, and Indolency. Of these six temptations Slaanesh lays at the players feet, Gluttony and Indolency can greatly accelerate the player's campaign.
Players wishing to increase their faction's ability in Total War: Warhammer 3 will be rightfully tempted by the Circle of Gluttony. In exchange for the minor debuff and immediate expulsion from the realm, the player can gain a massive Growth increase in all provinces for 15 turns. This will allow players to steamroll through settlement construction, quickly unlocking their faction's tier 3 units. Players with a powerful martial lord, or who already have access to their tier 3 units, can test their luck with the Circle of Indolency.
There are two versions of the Circle of Indolency in Total War: Warhammer 3 and reloading a recent save can result in Slaanesh offering the player nothing, meaning the reward from this Circle is luck-dependant. The more powerful version of Indolency offers the player Slaanesh's Blade, the strongest weapon in the game. This weapon provides 20% damage resistance, a massive +500 armor-piercing damage, +30 melee attack, and Unbreakable while turning the unit's melee attacks into magical attacks. This weapon is an amazing find for players controlling a powerful melee lord or hero, like Skarbrand or one of the dragon lords of Grand Cathay, as their unit through every enemy like a hot knife through butter. The Circle of Gluttony and Indolency prove Slaanesh is a master of temptation, and players can gain massive boons to their campaign by succumbing to the offers of the Dark Prince.
Total War: Warhammer III is available for PC.
