From unconscious bias around working mothers to the outdated perceptions some still have of female leaders, gender bias is alive and well in businesses today.
Here, Jacqui Marker, human resources executive and executive coach at Amazon, discusses the biases that women are often faced with and what businesses can do to tackle those issues.
“At Amazon, we have done an extraordinary job of educating and training our teams on biases. One of our leadership principles is having backbone and we are not afraid by any means to call it out,” said Marker. “And in fact, we empower our teams every day to call out biases when we see it and we nominate bias disruptors in our talent review meetings so we’re kept in check.”
